The department includes counselors who work as general counselors and those who work in programs providing specialized services to targeted groups of students. The LAMC Counseling Department consists of experienced and professionally trained faculty who work with students concerning educational goals, career planning, transfer to four-year institutions, and other academic and personal issues affecting student success. With an enrollment of approximately 10,000, LAMC offers a wide range of academic and career technical education programs, and transfers students to leading public and private colleges and universities. LAMC is one of the nine colleges in the Los Angeles Community College District (LACCD) and is located in the San Fernando Valley. Interested individuals who meet the minimum qualifications and possess the required experience are invited to apply. All counseling faculty are expected to participate actively in counseling departmental activities as well as the campus community and shared governance of the college. The assignment may include day, evening and weekend duties. The major responsibility for this position will be to provide comprehensive counseling services to a diverse and multicultural student population. This assignment will be for 35 hours per week and may require evening and/or weekend hours. The Counselor will assist with program development efforts and assist with planning and coordination of the TRIO program under the direction of the Vice President of Student Services or their designee.
